Cardinal Players Host Newsies Auditions

Kennedy Davey, Staff Writer

After the success of Crofton High School’s first play, Pride and Prejudice, the Cardinal Players are already getting prepared for our spring musical, Newsies.

Newsies is a Disney musical based on the newsboy strike of 1899 and tells the story of Jack Kelly, a newsboy. When publishing giant and baron Joseph Pulitzer raises the price of newspapers, making it harder for the newsboys to make a buck, the Newsies take action in this adaptation of the Broadway musical, according to Broadway.com.

Auditions will be held on December 17 and 20, by appointment, in the auditorium. The auditions will consist of two songs and a dance routine, as Newsies is a musical, unlike Pride and Prejudice. Auditioners are expected to know the songs prior to auditions, and the dance routine will be taught at the audition. More information about audition requirements, times, and songs can be found on the Cardinal Player’s website.

Callbacks will be on the 22nd, and more information is on the website.

To sign up for auditions, fill out the google form found on the website.

Best of luck to everyone auditioning, and break a leg!
