Since her legendary tour started in March of 2023, The Eras Tour has broken countless records and after over a year, is soon coming to a close this December. What will Taylor do next? That’s what will be addressed.
The Beginning of an Era
Taylor Swift announced her tour in November of 2022, one month after the release of her 10th album, Midnights.
Fans flocked to Ticketmaster to grab tickets which quickly sold out. Keep in mind, this was only the US leg. At this point, no one knew the International dates or even if there would be international dates.
After all her tickets were distributed, fans waited eagerly during the following months to go to their Eras Tour date. However, the tickets were in high demand and many fans didn’t get to go.
March 18, 2023. Fans waited anxiously at their live streams to see just what Taylor’s first tour since COVID-19 would be like.
And she didn’t disappoint.
Her shows were happening every weekend in a different location across the United States. Everything was going swimmingly.
Thousands of people were pouring into live streams on TikTok and Instagram to watch the Eras Tour, even if they couldn’t be there. One of the more popular livestreamers is named Tess Bohne, or @tessdear on TikTok.
Breaking Records
The Eras Tour has broken many records, some unexpected ones. In July of 2023 in Seattle, Swifties dancing to Taylor’s hit song Shake it Off caused seismic activity similar to a 2.3 scale earthquake. Whether you like Taylor or not, you have to admit, that’s impressive.
Opening night of the Eras Tour, the record was broken for most attendees. There were reportedly 69,000 people there, breaking Madonna’s record by 3 thousand people. A similar thing happened in Pittsburgh in June of 2023. Her Eras Tour Movie got its own record of being the highest grossing movie ever with $37 million in presales the first day.
Due to the tour, Taylor became the highest-earning female musician of all time, with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
In order to buy tickets, 3.5 million people registered on Ticketmaster. More than 2 million tickets were bought the first day they were available. It is estimated by Time that by the time the Eras Tour ends, it will gross $2.165 billion and be the highest grossing tour of all time.
The End of an Era…
At The Era’s Tours 100th show, June 13, Taylor acknowledged that the Eras Tour was soon coming to a close on December 8th, 2024.
“This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is gonna end in December. Like, that’s it. That feels like so far away from now, but then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour because you have made this so much fun for us that we wanted to do 100 shows, 150-something shows that we have on the whole tour.”
Now, four months later, the end of the Eras Tour is closer than ever. With a few shows left, Swifties are grappling with the remainder of Eras Tour content they are getting.
…but the Start of an Age
Swifties are very unsure of what Taylor will do once the Eras Tour is over, or even what they will do without their weekly surprise songs and Mastermind guessing. Many Taylor Swift alert apps are looking for signs of a new album, such as Swift Alert and Taylor Nation. Taylor hasn’t confirmed anything yet, so far there are only theories about what’s to come. Many suspect she will take a break, but some theorize that she is planning another tour with a brand new album. Right now, the thing Swifties need the most is patience. For Taylor, and her team. There are hundreds of theories and rumors, but we won’t know what’s true till she officially announces something. And with the many easter eggs she’s been dropping, that could be soon…
