Fried chicken has become a staple across Crofton. With every passing day, a new chicken restaurant emerges along Route 3. We, the best food reviewers in Crofton, have dedicated a Sunday afternoon to rating each and every chicken place in the area. To maintain consistency with each review, we feel it is best to rate each tender on taste, texture, and appearance.
We begin with Chick-fil-A, which we had the day prior as it closes on Sunday. Chick-fil-A tenders have a slightly different taste than the nuggets, but they are still rich with flavor and the meat is well-cooked. The tender is a rich, golden brown that is very enticing. However, the breading is soggy and leaves much to be desired. Overall, we rate it a 6.8/10.
Next, we move to Raising Canes, a fan favorite among high schoolers and a relatively new addition to the Crofton chicken scene. The chicken was moist and well seasoned, but it too lacked a crispy breading. The chicken was devoid of color. Raising Canes gets an overall rating of 6.8/10.
Popeyes was the next stop in the journey. The chicken was imbued with a taste that can only be described as Popeyes. The crunch factor was magnificent on a scale never seen before, similar to eating cornflakes on Christmas morning. The color was strange but overall delicious. The rating from us was 7.2/10.
Roy Rogers was quite the experience, the full package some might say. At first glance, it seemed like a place for people of another generation, as the only people we encountered seemed to be wise beyond our years. We should begin by complimenting the only good thing about these tenders, the appearance seemed very appealing with a good amount of color. However, the texture lacked any amount of crunch or joy, the chicken itself was gristly, and to top it off we found a long hair inside of the batter. Considering these factors, we feel it is best to give Roy Rogers chicken tenders a 3.6/10.
The next installment is the most recent chicken hub for Crofton. Slim Chicken tenders look similar to those of Cane’s, with the only real difference being slight color variations. Upon taste-testing, Slim’s has great quality chicken that tastes very natural and falls apart in the mouth. The seasoning does remind us of what can be found in our very own cafeteria, but that is neither a pro nor a con to the chicken itself. Overall, we rate this chicken an 8.1/10.
Next on our list was Roaming Rooster, a small restaurant with a loyal fanbase. The chicken was the most colorful by far, partially because of the intense amount of spice we put on it. The chicken was very moist and flavorful, with a good crunchy exterior. While the taste of cooking oil is still prevalent on the chicken, it is still a well-made tender. We give Roaming Rooster a solid 8.0/10.
Last but not least we have the wonderful Royal Farms Chicken. What is there to say, other than it was borderline inedible? We purchased one singular tender and a jalapeno cheese sauce, and the total was 7 dollars. That is bananas. Unlike bananas, however, Royal Farms had no flavor and the chicken was soggy and paler than Dracula. If negative ratings were possible, this chicken would earn it. However, we give Royal Farms a generous 1.8/10.
Chicken has become a center point in the Croftonian diet. Our opinions may be slightly biased, but we hope that you absorb our advice and use it on your next chicken outing.
