With it still being the early days of this year’s spring season, Crofton residents know to look for the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms.

Crofton was founded in 1964 as a planned community. Its residents founded the Crofton Village Garden Club shortly after in 1965. One of the first projects of the Crofton Village Garden Club was to plant Cherry Blossoms along the Crofton Parkway, according to the Crofton Village Garden Club website.

Although the Crofton Village Club had accomplished much in the past with regards to the planting of the Cherry Blossoms, the club is still active today. In 2014, they gave $2,000 to help continue their mission. The money was used for the addition of 17 new Cherry Blossom trees on the Crofton Parkway, according to the Capital Gazette.

This past weekend on March 26, 2022 the Crofton Civic Association (with Contributions from the Living In the Triangle magazine) threw the Crofton Cherry Blossom Festival. People were invited to make their way along the parkway to enjoy various available stations with food and music and more.
