Pumpkins to represent a fall staple

Emma Douglass, Staff Writer

When you think of fall, what comes to mind? Changing leaves, cooler weather, colorful sweaters? If you are struggling to find ways to fill your fall days, here’s a list of fun things I recommend for you!

Pumpkins are a staple of fall, especially surrounding Halloween! There are many places in the Crofton area to go pumpkin picking, and at those places, there are usually other fun things such as corn mazes and hayrides! Pumpkins are also super fun for making roasted pumpkin seeds, and carving Jack-O-Lanterns. Picking apples is also an amazing fall activity for anyone. In the Crofton Area, Montpelier Farms has a great fall festival, and there are many other local places as well!

For those who love to stay in, baking cookies and watching some classic halloween films is a great way to get into the halloween spirit! Cookies are timeless, and some types are a blast to make, especially with friends. Chocolate Chip cookies are always a fan favorite, but other cookies like Ginger Snaps and Snickerdoodles have a fall feel as well!

Movies like “Nightmare on Elm Street,” and “Scream” may not be for everybody, but there are some great movies that aren’t so spooky, but still get you in the fall mood. Some other movies like “Coraline”, “Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin”, and “Hocus Pocus” are some of the best fall movies that aren’t quite as freaky as your typical horror movies. Other recommendations are “Beetlejuice,” and the original “Poltergeist”.

Whether you are a fan of frights or enjoy a calm evening watching “Gilmore Girls”, there are plenty of amazing fall activities for you and the whole family to enjoy!
